Wilmington Wine and Chocolate Festival, This Weekend!

Who’s got a sweet tooth? Any winos out there? Well then you can’t afford to miss this weekend in downtown Wilmington! Regional vintners and chocolatiers will be offering their best for sampling and sale at the Wilmington Wine and Chocolate Festival. The event will kick off on Friday at from 7-10 pm with a Grand Tasting. The Grand Tasting will include  an array of mouth-watering heavy hors d’oeuvres to the scintillating sounds of Sharp Nine Jazz Ensemble. This year’s “Featured Artist” is James Nelson, dentist-turned-Artist after becoming legally blind.

The festival will continue through Saturday and Sunday with tasting tours of the best Carolina wineries, sample sweets from the area’s best chocolate producers, plus experience demonstrations, informal talks, raffles and more.

Nothing evokes pleasure more than wine and chocolate. As you revel in the best of the good things in life, take time to appreciate the work of Wilmington’s fine artisans all on the beautiful backdrop of the Cape Fear River. Relax and learn from the experts new ways to enjoy wine and chocolate at a demonstration or informal talk.

The Holiday Flotilla

Kick off the Holiday Season with the 29th annual Holiday Flotilla out at Wrightsville Beach! Voted one of the Top 20 Must See Events in the Southeast the Holiday Flotilla includes  the Tree Lighting in Town Park and an Anchors Away Party on Friday evening, the Festival in the Park on Saturday featuring arts and crafts, food, children’s activities and an antique car show. The weekend will culminate with a breathtaking parade of lights on the Intracoastal Waterway followed by fireworks!

If you’re planning on watching the boat parade make sure you get there early because Harbor and Wrighsville Island are usually very crowded for the event!

Don’t Miss the Kite Festival!

Looking for something to do this Saturday? Wrightsville Beach will be hosting its  the 4th Annual Cape Fear Kite Festival! During the festival the sky will be filled with the bright colors and swooping wing of kites of all shapes and sizes. The festival, held in front of Shell Island Resort, features kite flying enthusiasts from all over displaying their colorful flyers. It is a great excuse to get out to the beach as we move into the colder seasons!

Wilmington Chocolate and Wine Festival

This weekend the annual Wilmington Wine and Chocolate Festival kicks off on Friday at 7:30 pm with a Grand Tasting. At the elegant and irresistible event  you will be able to taste regional vintners and chocolatiers offering their best for sampling and sale as well as enjoy heavy hor d’oeuvres provided by Lawler Catering. In case this isn’t enjoyable enough the festival will be providing live music by The Brubakers, a contemporary jazz band from Charlotte. All set against the beautiful backdrop of the Cape Fear River at sunset.  There will also be a silent auction for those that wish to participate.

The festival will continue through Saturday and Sunday with tasting tours of the best Carolina wineries, sample sweets from the area’s best chocolate producers, plus experience demonstrations, informal talks, raffles and more. Live music Saturday at 3pm will be provided by local one-man-band El Jaye Johnson.
